한국원자력의학원은 IAEA/RCA RAS6097 LCC(Lead Country Coordinator)로서 주관기관인 태국 시리랏 병원을 도와 5월 31일부터 4일간 온라인으로 ‘국제원자력기구/아·태 원자력협력협정(IAEA/RCA) 지역 사이클로트론 기반 상업화된 방사성의약품 생산 및 품질관리(QC)를 주제로 한 지역훈련과정'을 개최를 지원했다.

온라인으로 진행된 이번 훈련과정은 사이클로트론을 기반으로 상업화된 방사선의약품의 품질 향상 노하우를 전수하고 최근 각 나라의 실제 임상 적용에 대한 다학제 화상 수업으로 진행됐다.

이번 훈련과정에는 아시아 태평양 지역 14개국 방사선의약품 분야 방사화학자, 방사약사, 핵의학 의사 등 전문가 약 40명의 훈련생과 한국원자력의학원 및 방사성의약품 개발기업 전문가 등이 참가했다.

한국원자력의학원 RI응용부는 “사업 총괄 책임기관인 의학원이 주최기관인 태국 시리랏 병원을 도와 온라인 회의로 개최된 이번 회의에 많은 참여와 호응을 보내준 아시아 태평양 각국 전문가분들께 감사드린다”며 “이번 훈련과정을 통해 방사성의약품의 상업화 속도에 박차를 가하며 암 환자 조기 발견을 통한 삶의 질 향상 등 아·태 지역 국민의 건강한 삶에 기여하기를 바란다"고 말했다.

From May 31 to June 2 2023, Korea Institute of Radiological and Medical Sciences (KIRAMS), IAEA/RCA RAS 6097 LCC(Lead Country Coordinator), supported Siriraj hospital in Thailand, host organization, to hold a virtual regional training course on ‘Production and Quality Control of Commercial Cyclotron-based Radiopharmaceuticals'. The training course was attended by approximately 40 trainees including radiochemists, radiopharmacists and nuclear medicine doctors as well as experts from companines of producing radiopharmaceutical precursors and compounds and so on. Applied RI Department in KIRAMS has expressed the sincere gratitude to the experts from Asia and the Pacific Countries for its enthusiastic participation on the course that aims to strengthen disease control in the Asia Pacific region through strengthening capacity and capability for qualified cyclotron produced radiopharmaceuticals for imaging and treatment. This training enabled countries across Asia and the Pacific to share know-hows and clinical experiences on improving quality of the commercialized cyclotron-based radiopharmaceuticals.
